I had decided long ago to install Snow Leopard on my PC, but Conti told me to install Lion because my Intel HD 3000 graphics card wasn’t supported until 10.6.2. So, I grabbed a copy or myHack and ran it to make a Lion (10.7) install disk.
Why I used myHack? Because ModCD hasn’t been updated to install Lion yet.
First of all, you need access to a Mac system to prepare a Lion installation disk with myHack, as it comes only for Mac. So, I first used ModCD to install Snow Leopard (steps are: grab the file, take out the ISO, burn the ISO to a CD, boot off it, swap the CD with the retail Snow Leopard DVD, hit F5, install). Then I grabbed myHack from here, moved it to /Applications and ran it. This step is a must.
myHack initially asks for your sudo password to be able to make the installation disk.
myHack then asks you where to store the installation file.
I picked my USB disk (/Volume/myHack OS X Installation Disk) and then the preparation began. myHack takes a while (like 20 minutes or so) to complete the task and at the end it asks whether to install generic Extra folder or specify our own. Pick one, and the operation is complete in a few moments. Now, to boot off our computer with our new installation disk. When you boot, initial boot screen welcomes you. Install as usual.
See you in another post.
